20. August: Made my deadline of getting myself started on the first phase of my future as a student in the Open College of the Arts Textiles 1, A Creative Approach. As my son has said it is never too late to make a career change.
I will spend today getting things in order. Start sketchbook and log, read the student handbook and maybe just get on with the actual course.
New beginnings are stressing; so much to read, new tasks on the pc, like creating folders, to be learned or gone through but on the whole not so mind boggling as it was yesterday since I was washed out after the long car trip from Norway.
I have one or two on-going projects to get finished as well, however,it is all just a question of self discipline

New Year
Well here I am again in San Diego this time well away from the trials of snowy Denmark. We have had a peaceful holiday season and today we took the tree out and put away all the decorations in preparation for the others to start work and school again on Monday. Tomorrow we will rent a car which will give more mobility since I don´t think that there is much public transport here!! we got a wine tour as a Xmas present and I have plans to visit Oceanside Museum soon and of course quilt Visions. The sewing machine is in for repairs and as soon as it gets back in about a week I will have to start being a little creative again. I have done a good bit of hand sewing on the quilt for the competition in The Danish Quilting Society´s 25 Th. anniversary show but am having a break to think over the next step. Just joined a group for On-going projects so might just air it there in the hopes that some constructive criticism might be available. People tend to either write nothing or gush in superlatives. Anyway there is plenty of inspiration all around me and the next creation is already bubbling around in my head. Happy New Year

Getting started
A snowy day in December and I have had this blog for nearly a year yet I have not written a thing. Much has happened to me in that year. I have finished the course in modern embroidery and have the diploma to prove it. Now there are 17 women in Denmark who have made it through. Took part in the showing together with 3 others and in the three weeks there were lots of visitors. I sent in three pictures to TheKerteminde International Art festival and got accepted so I will be showing there from 2. to 10 July next year and hopefully get some of my work sold since it has just been a case of spending money until now!! I am also exhibiting in our local library in September. All in all åplenty to do and look forward to, however, what I really am looking forward to is leaving the snow and enjoying the climate of San Diego!! We leave soon and will be spending a couple of months with our son and his family. I plan to use the time well since I do need to get more acquainted with the secrets of blogs, homepages and so on. Have to get my name and artwork out there!
